Queenstown Golf Club

Queenstown Golf Club, is one of the most scenic golf courses in the world, located on the Kelvin Heights Peninsula.  Surrounded by the glistening waters of Lake Wakatipu and with a backdrop of the Remarkables mountain range, the setting alone makes a round of golf here extremely memorable.  From almost every tee box and green, players are treated to views that combine alpine grandeur with lakefront beauty, creating an atmosphere that feels both inspiring and calming.

The course itself matches the gorgeous setting.  Measuring just over 6,100 metres (6,700 yards), it is a par-72 layout that blends challenge with playability.  The course today plays more links-like with many of the mature pine trees having been removed.  The fairways are generous yet demand accuracy, with undulating terrain, and the ever-present lake ready to punish stray shots.  Several holes are truly memorable: the Par 3’s offer thrilling tee shots over water or towards mountain vistas, while risk-reward Par 4’s tempt players to be bold.  The 5th and 10th holes are standouts, combining strategy with postcard-worthy scenery.

What makes Queenstown Golf Club especially enjoyable is its accessibility to golfers of all abilities. While low handicappers will appreciate the course’s subtle tests, casual players will find it forgiving enough to focus on the experience rather than the scorecard.  The greens are well maintained and true but can be quite tricky.  The conditioning overall is of a high standard year-round.

Off the course, the warm welcome and relaxed Kiwi hospitality further enhance the visit. The clubhouse sits proudly above the lake, offering panoramic views and a perfect spot to relax after the round with a drink or meal.

Overall, Queenstown Golf Club is not just a game of golf— it’s an experience that combines sport, nature, and scenery in a way few courses in the world can rival.  For anyone visiting Queenstown, it is a great course to play.
