Manawatu Golf Club

The Manawatu Golf Club, located in Palmerston North, proudly holds the distinction of being New Zealand’s oldest golf course, with origins dating back to 1895. The course has had a proud history of hosting New Zealand's top Professional and Amateur events including the 2017 and 2018 NZPGA Championships, 5 NZ Open Championships, 8 NZ Amateur Championships and various other national championships.  The club has also produced three USPGA tour players: Grant Waite (winner of the 1993 Kemper Open), Craig Perks (2002 Players Championship) and Tim Wilkinson.

A standout feature is the mix of hole lengths and designs, ensuring golfers use every club in the bag. The par threes, in particular, are memorable, requiring precise shot-making to small, protected greens. The back nine winds through particularly scenic areas, with holes framed by tall trees and river views, offering both beauty and difficulty.

Beyond the course itself, the facilities are of a high standard. The clubhouse is modern, welcoming, and serves as a social hub for both members and visitors. Its elevated position provides sweeping views over the course, making it an ideal spot to relax after a round. Practice areas, including a driving range and putting greens, are well set up to allow players to fine-tune their skills.
